The National Organic Program (NOP) reminds certifiers and importers that India requires a Certificate of Inspection for the export of organic products to the United States. The Certificate is to be issued by a government-accredited certification agent via India’s TraceNet system. This final export transaction certificate is provided to the U.S. importer to validate the organic status and volume of the exported products.

India today earns about Rs 2200 crores per annum through jute goods export because of bio-degradability and eco-friendly nature of this versatile natural fibre. Research has been initiated by ICAR and Allied Fibres, Barrackpore to improve fibre quality and to make the jute fibre internationally competitive through retting with a microbial consortium ‘CRIJAF SONA’.

There is still no movement on conducting neither the examination nor the clearance of these stranded China-origin containers. This has worsened the congestion fat ports, which were already struggling with month-long delays in import clearances during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Vietnam has clinched a FTA with the EU. Pandemic-hit Indian exporters, especially in labour-intensive sectors, are expecting their fortune to plummet further. The pact will raise competition between the Asian rivals for the lucrative EU market in a range of products such as garments, footwear, marine products, plastics, rubber, leather and coffee. Importantly, Vietnam will get duty-free access to the EU for 71% of its goods from day one, and 99% after seven years but Indian supplies will continue to attract up to 9.6% duty.

State-owned Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) will be halting operations to stop piling up losses and later modernise according to the demand in the market. Around TK 5,000 crore will be provided from the government budget over the matter. And all arrears of 8,954 workers who retired since 2014 will be paid. All the overtime dues, PF fund, gratuity and 27 percent of gratuity will be paid to the present workforce numbering 24,886.
